Evangelization

The word “evangelization” comes from the Greek word, “euangelion” – which means “good news.” Unfortunately, the word evangelization can have negative connotations because many associate it with annoying acts of proselytization. Even worse, many well intentioned missionaries seek to convert others with the same zeal and in a way that is similar to their own conversion experience. Such individuals seem to want to wrestle the control of another's conversion from the Holy Spirit.

The Men of St. Joseph take a different approach to evangelization and one that is based on the example of the Virgin Mary and her spouse. The Holy Spirit entered into the lives Joseph and Mary and invited them to consider a life that was very different from what they had previously known and experienced. The Men of St. Joseph encourage men to do the same by contemplating life through a uniquely Christian lens that is founded on the Roman Catholic faith. We believe there is good news to share with other men and we believe that it is found in a Christian fraternity of other men.  Most importantly, we believe the most effective form of evangelization occurs through a simple and personal invitation in a manner that reflects Gabriel's message to both Joseph and Mary. We hope that you will consider joining us on our pilgrimage of faith and following the example of St. Joseph.
