The notion of a Christian fraternity goes back to the original disciples of Jesus Christ. His entire public ministry was one that revolved around a community of believers who were united by their faith in Him. After His death and resurrection, those first Christians supported each other by gathering for prayer, liturgy and Eucharist. This is what enabled them to endure the trials they experienced and to evangelize the world as they knew it. As members of the Body of the Christ, we are called to live in community. Given the secular atheism that is prevalent in our current culture, the need for a strong fraternity of Christian men is as important today as it was in the time of Christ.
Fraternity is the foundation of the Men of St Joseph because it requires a faithful and committed group of men who are serious about living their lives as Christian disciples. As a fraternity, we are called to challenge our brothers to live as God intended. This means that we must hold each other accountable to become that best version of ourselves and the men that our spouses, children, friends and community deserve.
As a fraternity, we come together at least weekly and sometimes more frequently depending on the activities that are scheduled. Our weekly gatherings are on Sunday mornings, where we come together to contemplate the life of St. Joseph and draw inspiration from his example. Members of our group also meet outside of Sunday periodically for social events, acts of service, prayer, study and liturgy. A complete list of all activities can be found on the Calendar page. It is important to note that men can participate in any way and to the extent that they choose. At the very least, however, most men come together (in-person or virtually) for our gathering on Sunday morning.
